SEMI Hockey is Proud to Announce the Appointment of Shane Kuss and Matt Erhart as Player Development Leads
In a constant effort to be leaders within the evolving landscape of minor hockey, providing best-in-class services across our broad membership, SEMI Hockey is pleased to announce our new partnership with SK Hockey Development (“SK Hockey”). Effective immediately, SK Hockey, consisting of a partnership of Shane Kuss (“Kuss”) and Matt Erhart (“Erhart”), will serve as Player Development Leads for SEMI Hockey.
SEMI Hockey would like to thank and acknowledge the many outstanding submittals we received in the Request for Proposals (“RFP”) for this SEMI Player Development Lead position. The quality of the applicant proposals reflects both the abundance of quality hockey/development instructors in the Lower Mainland and their desire to partner with SEMI Hockey.
Kuss and Erhart will work directly with SEMI Hockey’s Executive Director Dave Newson to provide a comprehensive player development program within both the competitive rep and recreational hockey programs. The objective of this player development program will be to bring forward the widest possible funnel of athletes and coaches focusing them in a common direction, improving player skill and greatly enhancing the consistency of development and overall hockey experience.
Initially, this player development program will include:
- Novice division weekly skill sessions;
- Atom and Pee Wee Rep skill sessions;
- Prospects programs;
- C-Division development sessions;
- Coach mentoring across all divisions; and
- A variety of in-season on-ice clinics.
SK Hockey will also lead the instruction for SEMI Hockey’s Summer Hockey School in August, along with our numerous current providers in a combined effort to make the SEMI Hockey School a premier destination event.
“Matt and I look forward to working with SEMI Hockey and having a long and successful relationship where we can bring our skillset developed from many years of coaching high-quality hockey players from a young age through academy hockey and to coaching within the BCHL. Matt and I have both played to a high level and we look forward to sharing our combined experience to help build the success of SEMI Hockey,” commented Shane Kuss.
Dave Newson commented, “We welcome Shane and Matt to enhance our already innovative programs and work with our other talented service providers. We are very excited about the breadth of our on-ice instructional leadership, which includes great existing partners in Darin Vetterl, Kim Marfleet, Chris Rengert and Magic Hockey, as well as our outstanding roster of coaches.”
