President’s Message Maybe it had something to do with the Olympic spirit, but it was another awesome year for SEMIAHMOO MINOR HOCKEY!!
Firstly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and congratulations to all of our hard working, dedicated volunteers for an outstanding season. Our Association earned another 12 banners this past season, including League winners, Playoff winners and PCAHA Achievement banners. Both our Peewee A1 and A2 teams showed extremely well in tournaments while also participating at the Provincials in their respective tiers, with both teams earning medals.
My four year tenure as President will soon be concluding. What a ride it has been! I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to serve this Association as the first female President Elect. During my four year tenure, with the help of your Executive members we have accomplished so much, too many achievements to name without turning this final address into a novel. That said, I have to admit that re-branding our entire Association as the “RAVENS” in my first year as President is a particularly proud achievement. The jersey unification program was an integral component of that rebranding, which in turn supported our identity and strengthened our presence within PCAHA. GO RAVENS GO!
On June 1st I will be officially “passing the torch” into the very capable hands of President Elect, Ian Maguire, with whom I have worked with for the past 5 years in his various Division Manager roles. Our Association is extremely fortunate to have Ian step forward as he is a respected and dedicated community leader. I am confident he will continue to guide the Association with his fresh and hands-on approach. I look forward to assisting Ian with the transition and wherever else I can in my new role on the Executive as Past President. I encourage the membership to welcome Ian and the new Executive members aboard.
And again, thank you volunteers for all your efforts. As I have said in many messages, our Association is only as good as its volunteers.
Finally, thanks to all the Ravens families for your support over the years. I have had the pleasure of meeting so many of you at the rink or various hockey functions. Your constant warm wishes, words of encouragement and gratitude have meant a great deal to me personally.
See you at the rink in September.
Kind regards,
Sue Anderson President Semiahmoo MHA
